US27 Corridor, Marion County, Florida

The US 27 Study was one of three conducted by the Renaissance Planning Group (RPG) for Marion County, FL with the goal of enabling transit-oriented development patterns, instead of car-centric sprawl. Under Ms. Galvin’s leadership, four pedestrian-oriented, transit-ready, “Place-types” of varying sizes and development intensities were created: Hamlet, Neighborhood, Village and Town. Various green-field and infill development scenarios were explored and design guidelines, (that laid the foundation for future form-based codes,) were developed for each Place-type.
